Life Group Discussion Guide

Every Life Group is Different.  Please use these questions to help engage your group with the passage.  Feel free to modify them as needed.


Starter: Have you experienced injustice?  What was it like?  In your opinion, what was the agenda of the perpetrator of the injustice?


Interaction with Amos:

  • Read Amos 5:10-12
  • In the US today, who would you say hates justice?  Why do they hate it?
  • In the US today, do you think the tax burden is fair? Is this an issue Jesus followers should care about?  What should our position be?
  • Is our justice system fair to all?  Why or why not?
  • Read Amos 5:13
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. said, The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”  In your opinion, how is the church measuring up?
  • Read Amos 5:14-15
  • How can we/you do good to people of other races, beliefs, and genders?
  • How can we/you offer gentle non-cooperation with evil?
